Topo Athletic Ultraventure 5 Wide for men: cushioned trail shoe for long days out

Ultraventure 5 is Topo Athletic's best-selling trail shoe, now in its fifth generation. It has high cushioning, a 5 mm drop, a Vibram XS Trek outsole and the roomy toe box all Topo shoes share. The shoe is built for trail running, hiking and routes that mix road, gravel and trail. It is a neutral shoe without a rock plate and includes a gaiter attachment. The Wide model offers more room than the standard model through the toe box, midfoot and heel.

How Ultraventure 5 Wide is built

• ZipFoam midsole, 35/30 mm stack height. Soft, responsive cushioning designed for long runs and hikes.
• Vibram XS Trek outsole. Lug pattern and lug depth balanced for trail, gravel and road. Secure grip on wet and dry ground.
• Wide fit. More room than the standard model in the toe box, midfoot and heel. Toes can spread. Midfoot and heel stay secure.
• Tightly woven mesh upper. Durable and breathable, with a padded heel collar and tongue.
• Universal gaiter attachment. Hook-and-loop at the heel that fits Topo gaiters, sold separately.
• OrthoLite Performance insole. Soft step-in feel with lasting durability.
• Weight: 304 g in US 9 (EU 42.5).

What is new in Ultraventure 5

The 35/30 mm stack height, the 5 mm drop and the Vibram XS Trek outsole are the same as in Ultraventure 4. New are the tightly woven mesh upper, more padding in the heel collar and tongue, a universal gaiter attachment and a reworked ZipFoam midsole. Weight is 10.7 oz compared with 10.4 oz in US 9 for the previous model.
